Yeah, and since Paul Hester died it's taken on somewhat of a new meaning.

Dude, that's from Better Off Dead. And it is a classic. Easily could have been on my Top 10. Probably should have been. Great song.

Yeah. It's a great song but it's just better on there with Johnny Winter yelping in the background. It's got more of an electric feel to it. I think the tempo is a shade quicker than the other versions. He does a really good one on The Last Waltz. It starts off slow but by the end it's really cooking.

I think Crowded House is one of those truly underappreciated bands. I love Better Be Home Soon, Can't Carry On, Distant Sun, She Goes On, Chocolate Cake, Weather With You, even Something So Strong. Saw them in concert in the early 90s - great show.

They're one of my all-time favorites. Did you know they have recently re-formed? They have a new album + tour on the horizon, which is particularly exciting for me as I got into them too late to have any home of ever seeing them live.

Also, the "Farewell to the World" DVD (now ironically titled) which came out last year is exemplary. I highly recommend it.

I thought I heard on one of the XM channels that they had re-formed; good news.

Thanks for the tip on the DVD, I'll have to check that out.

Re: Your Top 10 All-Time favorite songs

There are a couple groups that I just can't ignore, so here is my Top 10 for the groups I have previously ignored (and yes, I realize I'm breaking the rules I set in starting this thread) :

The Beatles - Here Comes the Sun
Fleetwood Mac - Never Going Back Again
    R.E.M - E-Bow the Letter
U2 - Trip Through Your Wires
Public Enemy - Black Steel in the Hour of Chaos
    Alice In Chains - Nutshell
    Belly - Now They'll Sleep
Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young - Carry On / Questions
    The Cure - The Caterpillar
Edie Brickell & the New Bohemians - Circle
Indigo Girls - Shame on You

    Oh man, that's 11 already...oops.

Re: Your Top 10 All-Time favorite songs

Man, my list is so fluid. Just thinking about this over the last few days has brought so many songs to mind, so I'll just try to name a few I can think of right now. It changes by the day and sometimes even the hour. Here goes.

Pixies - Where is My Mind?
    R.E.M. - Driver 8
Crowded House - Something So Strong
They Might Be Giants - Ana Ng
Dead Kennedys - Holiday in Cambodia
    Devo - Mongoloid
    Beatles - Blackbird
U2 - Where the Streets Have No Name
    Beastie Boys - Hey Ladies
Public Enemy - Fight the Power

And in the time I've been making this list...
MC5 - Kick Out The Jams
Split Enz - 6 Mos. in a Leaky Boat
Ultra Vivid Scene - Special One
Electronic - Getting Away With It
    AC/DC - TNT
    Michael Penn - No Myth
Johnny Cash - Ring of Fire

    Okay, I'll stop now.

I always wanted to see them live. One of my friends did and I remember him telling me that they were great, but the crowd was the nerdiest group of guys he had ever seen. I believe the phrase "collared shirts" was used.

Whispers and Moans was given consideration for my Top 16. But I don't like the end where he gets all shouty, totally ruins the last part of the song. Lame.
