Your All-Time Top 10 Favorite Albums

Ok, continuing off of the momentum of the All-Time Top 10 songs thread. Name your Top 10 favorite Albums / CD's of all-time. This will hopefully be easier than the songs thread, but still somewhat challenging, I'm sure. It's meant to be difficult.

Here's mine (in no particular order):

    Paul Simon - Graceland
    Beastie Boys - Paul's Boutique
    Radiohead - The Bends
    Grateful Dead - American Beauty
Counting Crows - August and Everything After
Bob Dylan - Bringing It All Back Home
Jane's Addiction - Ritual de lo Habitual
    Beach Boys - Pet Sounds
Guns N' Roses - Appetite For Destruction
    Fleetwood Mac - Rumours

I know I'm leaving out a bunch more.

The Wall comes to mind, so does Dark Side of the Moon...ugh! I'll probably slap myself when someone posts their list and say "DOH!", but those are the 10 that came out of my head first.

Always afraid that threads like these show how "un-hip" I am, but here goes.

    The Beatles - Rubber Soul
    The Beatles - Abbey Road
    The Beatles - Sgt Peppers

Ok, that's out of the way now the rest of the list.

Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band - Live Bullet
The Rolling Stones - Let It Bleed
Frank Sinatra - Songs for Swinging Lovers
    The Eagles - Hotel California
    Billy Joel - The Stranger
    The Cars - The Cars
    Queen - Live Killers

To me, this means "entire album, top to bottom," not "3 or 4 great singles and a bunch of mediocre filler."

    Appetite for Destruction - G'N'R

    Gentlemen - Afghan Whigs

    I'm definitely a child of the 80s/90s...

The Smiths: "The Queen Is Dead"

Manic Street Preachers: "This Is My Truth Tell Me Yours"
    Crowded House: "Together Alone"
    U2: "Achtung Baby"
    Massive Attack: "Mezzanine"
Oasis: "What's the Story (Morning Glory)"
    Blur: "Parklife"
    Catherine Wheel: "Adam and Eve"

    Honorable mention to:

Depeche Mode: "Songs of Faith and Devotion"
    Rush: "Moving Pictures" and "Counterparts"
    Pet Shop Boys: "Discography"
    Suede: "Coming Up"
Echo and the Bunnymen: "Ocean Rain"
    Morrissey: "You Are the Quarry"
Rob Dickinson: "Fresh Wine for the Horses"
    Neil Finn: "Try Whistling This"
Manic Street Preachers: "The Holy Bible"
    Coldplay: "A Rush of Blood..."
    Chemical Brothers: "Surrender"
    Dr. Dre: "The Chronic"
    Ride: "Nowhere"
    The Blue Nile: "Hats"
    Doves: "The Last Broadcast"
    Mercury Rev: "Deserter's Songs"
    Primal Scream: "XTRMNTR"
    Joy Division: "Unknown Pleasures"

EDIT: Must add "Nonsuch" by XTC , "Laid" by James, "The Stone Roses" and "OK Computer" by Radiohead to my list.

Gah, this is too bloody tough. I might as well just list my entire collection, really.

Now that I think about it, if we're going to include compilations I think I prefer "Louder than Bombs" to "The Queen is dead"

I'm appalled at myself for leaving out anything by Yo La Tengo who is one of my favorite bands of all time. For the sake of argument I'll go with Electro Pura.

Need to give the props out on this album. Probably the first "contemporary" artist (relative as that is.. being a freedom rocker and all) that I ever really got into at that time. Came out when I was in 6th grade.

First time I saw them was in 1986 when they were Dylan's band opening for the Dead. Saw em at the rubber bowl in akron.

And WOY and I saw Tom last summer out here and it was a really good show.

Remember when he threatened to name Hard Promises, $8.98 in protest of MCA wanting to raise the albums price?

I saw Petty in Charlotte on the Wildflowers tour (woy wasn't with me). I don't recall how long the show went on but towards the end, the house lights came up indicating the show was over. He just kept on playing. I kept thinking they were going to cut the sound system, but they didn't. I've only seen him once, so maybe it's something he does at all his shows, but I thought it was pretty cool.

BTW, anyone know where I can find a recording of Girl On LSD?
