    Scout...Salmon's split better than Coffee's?

Salmon throws between 93 and 96 mph. The split-finger is his out pitch. One scout called it better than Todd Coffey's.

    I would certainly hope so.

Coffey says he's still working on his splitter and has never used it in a game.

I still scratch my head as to why this guy wasn't called up last year. He has always had the numbers in the minors but it was ultimately his stuff that was in question. Sounds like the question has been answered.

Todd Coffey's best pitch is a cutter, not a splitter. I'd hardly compare another pitcher's splitter to Coffey's

    From The Dayton Daily:

Coffey will work on a split-fingered fastball this spring to complement his highly charged fastball and changeup.

"I didn't begin working on the split-finger until the season began last year, and it worked well in the bullpen," he said. "But I didn't use it in games, because you don't want to be experimenting with a new pitch in games."
