No doubt it's Cal Ripken's record. With the salaries the way they are today, if a player sprains a finger he's out for 2 weeks. I don't think anyone will come within 500 games of his record...if that.

Ed Walsh, 227 assists by a pitcher in 1907. The game has changed way too much to ever see a pitcher record that many assists in a season again.
