    A little help, please

I have a deployed friend (in his late 20's) who said he hasn't heard any new music in months and asked if I would burn him a couple CDs.

Now I don't mind spending some iTunes money and downloading some stuff, but I am hopelessly unhip and have no taste (I like Rascall Flatts, Faith Hill, Toby Keith, and others of that ilk).

He’s not really an alternative kind of guy and I can’t see him listening to rap. Anyone have any suggestions? He’s been deployed for four months, so any really good new stuff in that time frame?

    Artist and song title, please.

    Thanks!!

there's a link called "what's new" and that's a good idea of what's "cool" right now

Not sure about the time frame or whether they qualify as really good but...
    Hope this helps.

creek, if you think he's into modern/mainstream rock, you might try these. They would seem to be safe bets if you're going at this somewhat blindly. I'm not sure how the Avril Lavigne song might go over, though. I like her but not everyone does.

    Shinedown - I Dare You
    Shinedown - Some Day
Avril Lavigne - Keep Holding On
    Daughtry - It's Not Over
    Hinder - How Long
Goo Goo Dolls - Let Love In
    Nickelback - Far Away
    Papa Roach - Scars

I would go with a few of these, too:

    Hate Me- Blue October
    Into the Ocean- Blue October
    Say it Right- Nelly Furtado
How to Save a Life- The Fray
This Ain't a Scene, It's An Arms Race- Fall Out Boy
What Goes Around- Justin Timberlake (Or any new stuff)

That should help get him caught up a bit in a few genres of music, mostly pop.

Or Creek- if you just want wants hot, just go to the top 100 downloaded songs on iTunes to get some ideas as well.

If there was someway in which you can find out his tastes creek, I'd be more then happy to burn him some CDs. If it's more "current" stuff then I'd have to consult my teens, who have a pretty extensive collection.

    Thanks guys.

Yeah, I can find out what he likes, but not until Wed. I have to email him on a system at work and I won't be back until Wednesday. Then with the shift he's working over there, I won't hear back from him until Thursday.

Thanks again. I really appreciate it.
