    Are you talking about these?

And there's no deal between Mills and Target. Quite the contrary.

Can you be more specific? G.M. and Target have many connections: the number of employees, executives, and board members that have worked at both companies is too numerous to mention.

My favorite cereal is also Wilford Brimley's favorite cereal, and I can't find it in stores anymore.

The site I borrowed this image from would be happy to sell me a box for $6, but I refuse to pay that much for a box of cereal. :thumbdown

Cereal is too big of a business for Target to play favorites because they're in the same city when Kellogg's is the bigger overall player in the category. Kellogg's as a company has enough leverage to make sure that doesn't happen. And there are laws against the very type of thing your'e suggesting. And most Target shareholders do not reside in Minneapolis and I doubt they care much that Mills HQ is in the same city. They gain nothing by giving special treatment to one of the two biggest players in the cereal category. I don't know why they would do it. There's nothing to gain by it and a lot to lose given the illegality of it all. And Kellogg's has plenty of influence at places like Target even though they are geographically located in a different city. Go in any Target and see who has more shelf space. It ain't General Mills.

Two large publicly traded companies who happened to be headquartered in the same city really has no relevance in how they operate. I really don't think P&G has any special privileges in Kroger.

I remember getting it in the late '70s, early '80s - it was a bran flake cereal almost literally drowned in maple syrup - I want to say the name was Maple Syrup Crunch, but I am not sure if that is right. I do remember it coming in a dark brownish box.
I seem to remember this bran-flakey goodness with a nice maple syrup glaze.

    Pac-Man Cereal
Basically, it was a lightly frosted KIX like cereal with Pac-Man and ghost marshmellows.

I made no comment that any illegal or special deals were made between the companies - your rather banal imagination came up with that. I qualfied my reason for why those stores carried those products rather clearly (I said "my guess is.."). Don't put words in my mouth. Attack someone or something else.

Not sure where your getting all this. My tone was not meant to be confrontational at all. I was merely analyzing the situation, not trying to put words in anyone's mouth. I certainly never attacked anyone.

I remember Kelloggs being promoted by Hanna Barbera characters alot.

We took a family vacation one summer up to Michigan and while there stopped in Battle Creek and did a tour of the Kelloggs plant. Quite interesting. Then afterwards they gave everyone one of those "snack packs" with all the little boxes of cereal. I remember us kids complaining because the packs had stuff like Special K, Product 19, etc. (Blah!) ...... and we wanted the good stuff, like Fruit Loops and Apple Jacks!

    Others I remember....

They're still around, but as a kid I loved "I want my" Maypo!
