    The 5th starter

Who do you think will win the 5th starter job

    Kirk Saarlos
    Elizardo Rameriz
    Matt Belisle
    Bobby Livingston
    Paul Wilson
    Victor Santos
    Homer Bailey

I think that it will come down to Saarlos and Livingston.

It will be Saarlos. Santos is merely a blip on the radar but, I would to see them keep Livingston in the pen for when Milton goes down and allow him to step in.

I think Saarloos will be the 5th starter, although that really should be Milton's spot.

    Re: The 5th starter

Saarloos definitely, but I really like what I've seen from Livingston thus far... Going in my pitching staff would look like this:
    1. Harang
    2. Arroyo
    3. Lohse
    4. Milton (until he goes down w/ injury & Homer takes his place)
    5. Saarloos

Pen: Coffee, Stanton, Weathers, Bray, Salmon, Cormier, Hermanson/Belisle/Majewski? ( I really hope Herm shows something b/c I feel like he could be the missing link if he returns to anything close to 2005)

I wouldn't mind having him slated in at the 5th spot either. I think the extra time between starts would help with his knee, etc.

    It'll never happen though.

DL Lohse and have Saarlos and Belisle both in the rotation, keep the better one when Lohse (and his inflated salary return).

I'd pick EZ or Belisle over anyone in that group, with the edge to EZ based on experience..

I believe that there is gonna have to be a trade coming eventually.

    Ideally

    1. Harang
    2. Arroyo
    3. Loshe
    4. Belisle
    5. Sarloos.

.... with EZ ready in AAA.

    So we're trading Milton?

Care to name the mysterious recipient?

I think we might have to look out for Matt Belisle. He wasn't great yesterday, but 3 scoreless. I think I'm in the camp that might like some of these guys over Milton, but we'll just have to see. I worry about Lohse injury. Nice to have so many candidates that might do the job though.

im assuming loshe's injury would have him shelved for awhile so sarloos takes his spot with leaves belisle into the 5th spot and livingston to the pen as the long man

    Re: The 5th starter

Options, options, options...that's why you'll see Ramirez and Livingston start the season at AAA, for both have options remaining (I believe I'm correct)...assuming good health for Lohse, that leaves Saarloos for the #5 and Belisle for long relief...Wilson and Santos will not be kept (I hope-though it's sad about Wilson)...I'm under the belief that the brass simply doesn't believe Belisle is cut out to be a ML starter, whether for health or stamina or stuff...I actually like him, but I think he's been pigeon-holed as a long man..

After researching, Belisle and Saarloos also have options remaining, but I still contend those guys are looked at as keepers, with Livingston and Ramirez as "needing to further develop"...IMHO

I would guess the yankees. Disatrous Bullpen and Igawa is unknown while Pavano could easily be on the DL again by the end of april. We package together Milton/Cormier and we could possibly pickup a decent package of prospects. IMO
