    That would be pretty scrappy!

    Word. And, no doubt.

Then again, THIS bitter person has clear memories of Quentin McCracken on this club last year, so let's just say I can live with a lefty power bat, plus speed, and a great glove off the bench and spot starting for this team this time around...

David Ross starts the Reds third, after first offering a dead chicken to Jobu, I am sure, in the hopes that he can make contact against Nate Robertson.

Ross falls behind 0-2, works the count full, then grounds out to third.

    Jobu comes through.

Javy Valentin pinch hitting for Harang (who clearly "got his work in" today).

It will be the same people who railed on Pena being kept on the roster too.

That's the "Pena" who got us Arroyo.

Q was scraptastic. Should be in redsupport's hall of fame - or is that hall of (the ) lame?

Valentin, turned around to the right side to face Robertson (which, as we all know, makes him about as effective as Superman with a handful of Kryptonite), somehow works a walk off of the startled Nate Robertson. Freel up, one out, one on.

While Freel is 31 today, no word on how old Farny is. Or whether Freel or Farney ever had any luck with craigslist (or with whoever pulled that joke on them)...

I just do image searches with different words for the concept I'm reaching for. Most of the time it works.

Freel/Farny doubles off the wall in the left field corner, Valentin cruises into third.

Second and third, one out, Mr. Hatte up.

    Re: 3/8 Reds-Tigers Lineups

Jim Leyland, managing like it's the World Series (only the bizarro one where the Tigers didn't lie down for their opponent) takes a trip to the mound to discuss things with Robertson.

Pretty exhausting standard in Detroit when giving up your first hit of the day draws a visit from the skip in the third inning...

Mr. Hatte, bringing it like it counts, snaps at John Hirshback over that last strike call, 2-2 the count...

Sounds like mid-season form to me.

Mr. Hatte takes a called strike three, Roberston, now at his pitch limit for the day, will be lifted after his fifth K, EE up with two outs, not sure yet who is coming in.

I will take this break in the action (and Mr. Hatte's backwards K) to pimp Joey Votto. Votto. FAR more certain than the lotto.
