I've found that no special "diet" it necessary. It's amazing how well you can do for yourself if you just read the nutritional information on a box and actually apply it. Portion control is all you need, it's just really hard to use sometimes.
Chronically on a diet.
I undo it each weekend though.

Seafood diet...I see food, I eat it...ha ha ha ha ....I love the classics....
My diet is to let my wife buy the food. If it were up to me I'd probably weigh about 260. As it is, I stay trim because my wife grew up in a diabetic household where they didn't eat sugar and snacking on fruit was the alternative to carbs.
I hate it, by the way. But it keeps me reasonably trim.
So, in answer to the question, I'd say snack on fruit instead of pretzels and doritos, eat smaller portions of meat and larger portions of veggies, be moderate with the drinking, especially beer. That's tough for me- I brew my own- but alcoholic drinks are pretty much sugar and water that stick to your waist and rear end.

I'm not currently following this plan (okay, diet) at this time, but I will get back on the horse in April. Well, I am kind of following it now, but not close enough to lose. Right now it's more of a *don't gain* mode for me. When bike riding season is in full swing I'll go back to the lose mode.
I followed this from 17Jan06 to 01Jul06 and lost a lot of weight I had put on after breaking my ankle and leg and sitting in a wheelchair for a couple of years.
I just ate less. Yeah, I know, that's no diet, right.
Well I ate less of the *bad* stuff.
I barely touched anything with refined sugar in it. You'd be amazed how quickly you get over the need for something sweet. I replaced the refined stuff with fresh fruit.
And I also cut way, way back on stuff with white flower. I still had bread, but I made sure it was a multigrain. I would limit pasta to one or two small portions a week.
And I drank nothing but water and V8. I might make an occasional acception for some fruit juice, but that was rare - I mostly stuck to fruit in the fresh form.
If I just had to have something bad, I made sure it was a very small portion.
So that is it. Limit two refined products and otherwise watch portion size.
And when you can exercise, do.
That's it.
Will trade this space for a #1 starter.
I have been on Nutrisystem for well over a month now and have lost about 18 lbs which was basically my goal from the start. The Nutrisystem meals are kinda hit or miss. Some are really good and some are awful, just depends. One thing for sure though I am awfully tired of microwave meals.

I've dropped 18 lbs. since the beginning of the year...mainly through diet an exercise. Currently I'm in the middle of a 40-day fruits and veggies only fast (for spiritual reasons, not physical, but it's obviously contributing to my weight-loss). The fruit and veggie only thing has been tougher than I had expected but I'm glad I'm doing it.
For every action there is an equal and opposite criticism.
There is a school of thought that says artifical sweetener triggers the desire for the real stuff and also can actually make you hungry.
Personally, I don't drink diet coke/pop/soda cause I think artifical sweetener is terrible stuff and don't ingest it. I recoil in horror when I see parents giving it to their kids. But that's just me.
If you can drink nothing but water for three days, I bet you really won't want to go back to diet drinks.
Will trade this space for a #1 starter.
