Jays manager John Gibbons included Royce Clayton as his No. 9 hitter in unveiling his starting lineup Friday.
He was the heavy favorite going in, but Clayton wasn't supposed to be guaranteed of starting at shortstop. It's disappointing to see him handed the job already, especially with Jason Smith off to a much better start with the bat.
