Wilson, Saarlos, & Stanton got hammered

All three of these got hammered today. I doubt Wilson makes the team. Let's just hope Stanton and Saarlos had a bad day because we know they will both make the team. That reinforces my point that Belisle should we our 5th starter.

The BABIP against the Reds pitchers today:

    Sarloos 6/14 .429
    Stanton 5/7 .714
    Wilson 8/12 .750

    Total 19/33 .576

They struck out 9, allowing 1 walk and 1 HR.

Bad pitching or not, they were extremely BABIP unlucky today.

Ya that's why looking at one game individually is a bad thing. There is so much that can go wrong outside of the pitcher himself. today they got hammered, but another day they are world beaters. If they have peripherals like that over the long haul they will do just fine.

Sometimes it's just bad karma (and then factor in the wind!)...

Also when guys are hitting well in ST....it's the "pitchers are working on things".
Maybe our guys were just "working on things today"
    Highly undoubtful with Wilson though.

I think this may be the last spring training for Paul Wilson. It's a shame injuries never allowed him to reach his potential when he came up with the Mets.

Jeff Torborg (sp) has had the effect on many a pitcher.

It was a butt whoopin no matter which way you slice it. I think Belisle with a strong start next time out will have sealed up the 5 spot and Saarloos will be working out of the pen.

When will the politeness to Paul Wilson be ending this spring? Soon? Please?

I would have to agree with that sentiment.

Keep in mind that we have now reached the middle of spring training, where the infamous "dead arm" period starts in where pitchers get blasted, for seemingly unexplicable reasons. I don't know if that applies here or not, but get ready that line is going to start get thrown out there soon.
Hugs, smiling, and interactive Twitter accounts, don't mean winning baseball. Until this community understands that we are cursed to relive the madness.
