    Kyle Snyder?

This from MLB rumors, but originally from Ken Rosenthal .

The Red Sox don't have room for Kyle Snyder, they'll surely trade him as he's out of options. In addition to the aforementioned Marlins and Nationals, the Reds are interested.
What do we know about him,and would he be better then what we already have?

    Re: Kyle Snyder?

Here's the original report from Rosenthal:

Red Sox right-hander Kyle Snyder is out of options, and club officials recognize that he would never get through waivers when teams such as the Nationals, Marlins and Reds could snap him up as a back-of-the-rotation starter. Snyder, 29, has value to the Sox as a long reliever; the team's bullpen is likely to be comprised of one-inning pitchers.
    Just speculation, really.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

Pecota likes him better than Milton, Santos and Saarloos and about the same as Ramirez and Lohse. It likes Belisle better but projects Belisle as a reliever. It still only projects Snyder as a decent number 5 though.

He's probably not enough of an upgrade to give up much, but if he can be had for Cheap he's worth a look IMO.

His K's and BB's last year were actually pretty good. He had a bad BABIP and gave up a lot of Baserunners as a result. He gave up too many HR though.

You're right about his peripherals. i'm just skeptical of a guy whose ERA has been that hight that many years in a row.

He's been injured and/or recovering from surgery for just about his entire pro career. As it looks right now, I think he makes the Sox opening day roster, though.

The case in favor: former highly touted prospect, who's had injury problems and may have figured a few things out

The case against: The ROYALS gave up on him. 'Nuff said.

Considering that organization's ability to evaluate talent, this might be a "case for".

Since the former GM of the Royals now works for the Red Sox, it might not be.

    Re: Kyle Snyder?

At the start of the hot stove I posted a couple of times saying that if the Reds could get him cheap, I think he could have good upside. He seemed inconsistent last year but really reminded me of Arroyo in terms of delivery, motion. He could be far enough away from his injuries to do somehting nice. I saw a piece on him the other day where the writer was arguing that the sox should consider him for a closer or short relief role as his era last year in his first inning of work was 0.90.
