JB wonders if Lohse's concentration goes in and out when he's on the mound. If so...that's not good

"Stuffwise, he knows what it takes ..."

That may be a more telling answer than Krivsky realizes.

He also had a .342 BAPIP last season. That's not likely to continue as he has basically no control over it.

If he maintains his solid K:BB and decent HR numbers, that ERA is almost guaranteed to come down. Obviously, there is a small sample size here, so it's hard to put a lot of weight on last year's numbers only, but he was much, much better than the stats indicate.

Like I said, I'll be happy if he can be league average this year. I wouldn't bet on it but I'll be happy with it if he can pull it off.

Right, because those relievers under their mid-thirties are constantly having their knees knocking when they enter the game in the ninth inning with nobody on base.

Big-league teams are constantly viewing the closer's role like a catch-22: you can't close without being proven, and you can't prove without closing.

That's fine, I can see the other side of the Lohse argument. I do like the fact that his best pitching in his entire career has come recently. That's a pretty good indication that he may have turned the corner.

And hopefully Lohse doesn't end up at Our Lady of the Worthless Miracle.
