Garrett makes an out. One down. Santos guns a strike across to Josh Phelps. One pitch later he grounds to Janish. Todd Pratt, senior member of the International Brotherhood of Backup Catchers, steps in with two down. Victor gets ahead 0-2, evens the count, runs it full, then juuuust misses and walks him. Ben Davis, ex-Rockies catching phenom, in to pinch-hit. He hits the first pitch to LF, where Godwin makes a tough catch of the slicer.

7-7 to the bottom of 9.

Get him some Dairy Queen and let him wear his uniform home. That seems to make him pretty happy.

Cruz gets ahead 3-1, runs the count full, then spanks one down the LF line for a leadoff double!

Edwin's practicing for all the walkoffs he's going to his this year.
"Since I've been with the Reds in 1989, we've never had a farm system this loaded," Bowden said. "If we were the New York Yankees and had unlimited dollars, we could have traded for Colon, (Jeff) Weaver, Rolen, (Cliff) Floyd, (Kenny) Rogers and Finley and gotten them all -- and still held onto our top five prospects. That's an amazing statement."

He might, but he won't need them yet because he's on a minor-league deal.

From what I can tell, he's never spent a day in the majors that wasn't part of that 2003 Rule 5 obligation. So he should have option years remaining should he ever make the 40-man. He seems to be decent with the bat but fields pretty ugly.

Oh, yeah, and EdE wins it with an RBI double to the wall in RCF. 8-7 Reds.
