Look out, Johan Santana has finally refined a reliable change up

    So you better look out.
Tom Singer writes for MLB.com and had this to say about Santana in his Top 5 Cy Young contenders column for the AL
    2. Johan Santana, Twins: People to whom tales of Sandy Koufax sound like legend are being treated to a reincarnation. Santana has gone 55-19 with an ERA nearly two runs below the league's overall number over the past three season. At the same age (28), Koufax was coming off three seasons with a cumulative record of 40-33, and took off. Heaven help the league if Santana has any liftoff left. Word that he has finally refined a reliable changeup is not what the AL wanted to hear.
Seriously, just wow. How do you get paid to write about baseball and say something like that? Santana has the best change up in the AL, maybe in all of baseball.... is this guy kidding or what?
Oh and in case you were wondering, his favorite to win the CY is of course Matsuzaka.

Yeah, the guys on B-Ball tonight were raving about Santana's change, said it was without a doubt the best in the AL. Moron.

At this rate, going up to the plate against Johan with a stool leg could be a batter's best bet.

Most people who's watched Johan also know he's thrown TWO change ups over the past few years. A cirlce change and a straight change, both dominate hitters.

dougdirt, I plead ignorance as I do not watch much AL baseball, but doesn't Santana throw 2 types of change-ups?

He's always had one of the best changeups in baseball. I'd say Tom is clueless.

Unless it's just a mistake, and it's supposed to say another type of pitch, like a curveball or something.

I heard Dunn hes developed some power this year also.

Seriously though, if he wasn't kidding, Tom Singer should have just earned a lifetime ban from baseball writing.
