the bad: No Valiquette (means he's finished- unfortunately), Justin Turner, Drew Valaika and Daryl Thompson not at High A - bad signs.
If they perform like they did in short season ball, they will end the year in high A. I must say I do not mind Wayne's passive/ aggressive approach to prospects. I understand the coddle pitchers, challenge hitters arguement, but this approach seems to take a little of coddle and give challenge to those who earn it. Also, I believe we will see prospects make a stop at every step of the ladder from now on, with time at each step being the only variable.

I could hardly disagree more. I think Dayton is going to have a great team in the first half.
The lowest acceptable payroll amount for ownership to show they are not greedy pigs is 15 million more than they are currently paying. No matter what that currently is.

I am curious to hear why you think Dayton has more talent this year, than last year's team, which started the year with Bruce, Wood, and Cueto. I am pretty high on Bruce, so I don't really see any OFer his equal this year anywhere in the system. And Cueto and and Wood match up favorably with Watson, Smith, etc. on this year's staff.

Last years pitching was better with Ward, Wood, Fisher and Cueto.... but outside of Jay Bruce, the offense on the team last year sucked. Jay Bruce had an OPS of .871. Second best on the team (other than Janish who was there for less than a month) was Craig Tatum at .752.

The offense this year looks VERY good.... while the pitching still looks, at least right now, decently good.

18-4 to start. Less talent???? I guess that means that last years club was either a big bunch of under acheivers or Billy Gardner Jr. was the worst manager ever.

19-4 and the 2nd best record in all of professional baseball for the Dragons. It's too bad for the citizens of Dayton that building blocks that are leading the charge towards the fabulous first half record likely won't be around come Midwest league playoff time in September.
