    Red Zone Heaven...

First Fay says we're shopping Cormier...

Now, Hal McCoy kicks dirt right in the face of our favorite Eric Milton:

Then there is Milton, the Human Home Run Haven. He is 0-1 with a 6.59 ERA, giving up 23 hits in 13 2/3 innings and opponents are hitting .354 against him. And that doesn't include his latest performance.

Facing a Pirates team that had "burg" in its name — but wasn't Pittsburgh — Milton gave up five home runs, two doubles, 11 hits and six runs in six innings. It was against Lynchburg, a Class A Pittsburgh affiliate. The wind was blowing out, but six homers? To a Class A team?
    Then:

There are those, however, who wonder. If the Reds are serious about winning, isn't it time to give up on Milton — trade him, if possible, or even eat his $8.5 million — and put both Livingston and Belisle in the rotation.

Wouldn't that give the fans a sense that the team is dedicated to winning with more than lip service?

Those guys fightin' over RZ readership today, I see...

And to think some of you question those guys' intelligence and wisdom

Not a big fan of either, but props. Just saying the truth and what we've been saying for 2+ years now.

Will it matter? Probably not, but props nonetheless!

When we were picking our 25-man rosters a while back, I just couldn't put Milton on mine. I think Krivsky is looking at a total loss of confidence from his fan base if keeps Milton long at all. Folks here already feel that way, to a great extent. But if Marty, Brantley, and now Hal are feeding the frenzy, Kriv better watch out.

Of course, we may have it all wrong. It could be that Kriv is feeding this line of thinking to Marty and the others in the media so he can justify to his boss doing what he really wants to do (cut Milton). He hasn't been around long enough for me to tell if he is that devious in his use of the media. It would be cool if he were, though.

    From McCoy's article today:

    • The Reds removed Lohse from their expected pitchers list for Saturday's game between the Reds and Florida Marlins at Fifth Third Field. Eric Milton is still scheduled to start.

This is called "Pitching for your life"...
It's absolutely pathetic that people can't have an opinion from actually watching games and supplementing that with stats. If you voice an opinion that doesn't fit into a black/white box you will get completely misrepresented and basically called a tobacco chewing traditionalist...

That tells me that Eric Milton is pitching in the 5 hole.

When he gives up 4-5 HR's on Saturday. (And he will, trust me) hopefully, the letters DFA will be in the Castellini dictionary again.

Does this mean I can root for the wind to be blowing out at about 30 mph on Saturday? I'll even wear my Marlins hat if that will help. Boy I hope the fish play all of their starters for six innings or 6 HRs whichever comes first.

Maybe, but that's just because he'll be working on some stuff.

    His resume, for example.

    Makes all the routine posts.

Veterans with track records don't need to "earn a spot". Their spring stats don't mean anything.

The BRM trademark was listed after the sentence. Take the sentences before that as deep sarcasm.

Sorry. I thought it was obvious sarcasm. I'll try harder next time.

What makes you think they have to have 6 starters play in order to hit 6 homers? They could start thier worst hitters, the results would be the same, he cant pitch no matter who hes faceing

eating 8.5 would be tough for this team but if they don't they are eating 8.5 plus however many losses he puts up.

I admit I had hoped Milton would come into spring healthy and ready to pitch for a contract but it is obvious he is not healthy and he is not going to be at all able to pitch to win.

    Cut and win.
