    Jose Capellan requests trade

    This from CBS Sportsline:

    ____________________________________________

News: Brewers RHP Jose Capellan, who was sent to the minors in the final player cut of spring, notified the Brewers that he would like to be traded to another team. Capellan made 61 appearances for the Brewers last season.

    ____________________________________________

Any chance WayneK makes a play for him? Dick Pole might have to work with him, but I think he's got the stuff to be our closer.

Don't know much about him other than he was superhyped coming up through Atlanta's system. If he can bring it in the upper 90's still I say try and get him. Wonder what the Brew Crew's asking price would be?

Cetainly more than Cormier, cash and an AA player (unless the AA player is a real good prospect).

He's just the type of player we should go after. It was just last year that FCB was touting Cappellan and Shouse as the Central's top bullpen duo.

Not saying that I hate the idea, because I don't, but I still think that Coffey, Burton, or Bray have the stuff to be our closer.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

Good idea, although we'd probably have to give up something decent to get him and then dump Cormier elsewhere in order to make room.

I'd much rather Wayne be collecting these types of guys than 40 year old relievers.

Does anyone know what the Brewers need? I haven't been following them.
Thank you Walt and Bob for going for it in 2010-2014!

Here we go. This is the kind of guy the team should target.

Was he sent down because of a bad spring, or was this an options thing?

Probably a "ten-cent head" thing. Still, that shouldn't stop the Reds from acquiring some gas.

Well DanO has some pull there now. How about the AA player Anderson Machado!

Selig needs to play like he's FDR and order lend-lease of extra pitchers to the Nats.

Problem with getting a guy like Cappellan is that one of the kids goes down to the minors or Burton goes back to the A's.

Or a guy like Cormier gets jettisoned.

Obviously that's the hope but it's much easier to send a kid down than to eat a contract.
