    ETA for Homer Bailey?

I picked him up in both my fantasy leagues...because I know as soon as there's a hint of a call-up he'll get snatched up. Any thoughts on when we'll see him? Before September, I hope. D.GOOCH

    I will say July, earliest.

After this spring I don't think we'll see him in the bigs this year, unless he is amazing in Louisville. Which is probably a good thing. I think next year he breaks camp as the #3 starter.

So you're ruling out even a September call-up?

If we continue to win, I think he could be up as a part of the pen, or the #5 starter. When, though, I have no idea.

If we begin to fall out of the race, I imagine he'd be up sooner rather than later.[/dead horse opinion]

Well according to the Reds apparently I don't have the authority to "rule out" anything. Who knew?

But I could go either way on September, it would depend on how he does in Louisville I guess.

Actually, I think it will depend more on where the Reds sit in the standings come September.

If they're within striking distance, I doubt they'd want to rock the boat by NOT playing those who got them there.

As a starter, not this season; maybe not next.

As a reliever, July at the earliest.

I don't think Homer comes up until he's completely ready. Once he's up, he's up. That said, I think we're looking at a September callup unless injuries get rid of Santos, Livingston, Ramirez, etc. as options.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Yeah, the Reds kept him on the same schedule from spring training and so his natural day to pitch was Sunday.

I could see him being a starter for the second half of this season if he dominates AAA. But I wouldn't expect him to be all that good in his first couple of months. I certainly wouldn't hold a roster spot in a fantasy league for him.
