If he keeps hitting and he can play there, maybe we try EE at 1B and see between he and Votto which one sticks. Trade the other.
Bad idea. 2nd base would be his ideal spot. EE isn't a 1st baseman at all, literally, at all.

Just curious, but how could someone have enough ability to play 3B, but not 1B?

    my thoughts exactly...

If he continues to struggle this season, I would move EdE to 1B for next year and let him and Votto have a Righty-Lefty platoon. Let Freel play 3B full time until Valaikala is major league ready (which should be about midway through 2009. Bruce should be ready to take Griff's spot over full time as soon as his contract is up. If Griff goes down before that, put Freel out there and leave EdE at 3B. (I do realize penciling Valaikala in as an everday starter is a stretch at this point.)

i saw chris valakia play up in dayton a few days ago he is brutal on defense like felipe lopez bad he should play second if hes gonna be in the middle infield other wise he should probably just play first or the outfield

No way do you platoon EdE in his third or fourth major league season. Make this statement again if he's still batting under .200 at the all star break.
