    Spotlight on Josh Roenicke

    Farm report

You might recognize Josh Roenicke's name. His father, Gary, and his uncle, Ron, both played in the majors.

Roenicke was the Reds' 10th pick in last year's draft. He's being used as a closer at Single-A Sarasota. He leads the Florida State League with seven saves and has a 1.17 ERA. He's given up two hits, walked five and struck out 14 over 7 2/3 innings.

"He's very young to pitching," player development director Terry Reynolds said. "At UCLA, he played mostly outfield. They'd put him in to pitch at the end of games. So he was a hard guy to scout. But he's got a good arm and a fresh arm."

    Roenicke, 24. a right-hander, throws 91 to 94 mph and has an above-average curveball.

"When he's consistent with both, he's tough," Reynolds said.
My dad got to enjoy 3 Reds World Championships by the time he was my age. So far, I've only gotten to enjoy one. Step it up Redlegs!

    Re: Spotlight on Josh Roenicke

After the draft last year I found reports of him hitting 97 mph with his fastball.
