    Arroyo reminds me of Clemens of the last few years

    This guy just can't get any help as far as run support goes. He's picking up where he left off last year.

    I thought you were going to say he only pitches for half the season and I'd have to come in his support. Good point. How many times has the bully blown a win for this guy? And how much longer will he continue to be cool with it?

    He got some iffy defensive help tonight, too.

    Ross with the total brain cramp on the pop-up bunt, which cost a run. Two other plays that I thought should have been made, by Conine and Dunn, did not result in runs scoring.

    I felt like Arroyo was having trouble gripping the ball tonight, with the cold, and it was affecting his curveball. He left a lot of curves high and tight to RH hitters.

    All in all, he did a good job, and will be OK.

    For me, the most distressing part of this game were all the Reds K's, to a soft tosser. That's a bad sign.

    I think the resemblance between Arroyo and Clemens ends with their old Red Sox jerseys hanging in their closets.

    I thought Arroyo pitched very well today. The breaking balls looked excellent. The hits the Cubs got were just ground balls that made it through the infield. He didn't get hit hard at all. Nothing to worry about here.

    You have to score more than one run if you want to win a baseball game.

    I didn't get to see the game, but watching Arroyo's 9 Ks on MLB.com was pretty impressive. That slider he threw to Soriano in the 1st was absolutely filthy.

    As cold as it was, it looked like he was getting a pretty good grip on his breaking ball. I think he'll be just fine.

    me too.

    Arroyo reminds me of Bert Blyleven, who had the nastiest curve of his time.

    * 3 quality starts in 4 games.
    * REDS are 0-4.
    * 9 runs scored for him in 4 games (incl. 6 tonight).
    * Bullpen 8.53 ERA in those 4 games.

    Another tough luck outing for BA. This is starting to get kind of ridiculous.

    In 5 starts, he has a 2.86 ERA and 4 quality starts.

    0-2 and the Reds are 0-5 barring a miracle.
