Salmon throws a splitter. Think I saw a couple. I'm starting to get excited about the future of this pen. Salmon, Coffey, McBeth, Burton, Bray? It could be something!

Brandon Phillips has been damn good all season. He is hitting the ball hard and played a pretty spectacular 2b. No problems from my view.
This is the time. The real Reds organization is back.

I guess the Astros bumped Oswalt up a game and he is now pitching tomorrow against Lohse.

Salmon also throws a slider along with a split-fingered fastball.

The most important thing about tonight is Arroyo finally got his first win....

You've got to love the Supersonic Salmon. He'll struggle a bit, but that kind of raw heat (insert sushi joke here) is a welcome addition to the bullpen.

Just read the game thread. It was a good night. Good to see Griffey back in the lineup. So much for the theory that the Reds play better without Griffey, i guess. I still contend this is a better team with an outfield of Dunn, Hamilton and Griffey. Put Freel in the outfield and you lose offense. And you don't have to worry about what boneheaded base running move he'll make. Sorry, but I am not nor will I ever be a "Freel every day" proponent. Freel's place in the whole scheme of things is to fill in and occasionally start.

I saw the game tonight. Coutlangas will have a short career if he cant throw strikes. Dunn and Griffey loked like real hitters. Arroyo looked unhittable for 4 innings, later became hittable ,but won because he had some offense.Brad Salmon has the stuff to be a closer, but must learn control.

Well, that gives us a better chance to win against Oswalt.

Really, George? You honestly think the Pirates will remain a second place club?
    Huh.
Actually, in George's defense, that's not what he said. He said the NL Central continues to be bunched up and probably will be throughout the season.

Great game! Go Reds (and do it again tonight).
