    Top 30 Songs of All-Time

    According to me of course.

I am a huge Dave Matthews Band fan, as I've discussed with many of you over the years. But I wanted to compile a list of my all-time favorite non DMB songs. If I made a general top 30, DMB would probably have 20 songs on the list, so I simply eliminated them from this altogether.

I just finished making a two CD set. It took a long time to think about it and compile it, but here it is. In descending order to add to the drama.....

    30. Let It Rain (Phil Collins)
    29. Folsom Prison Blues (Johnny Cash)
    28. Good To See You (Neil Young)
    27. Only Living Boy in New York (Paul Simon)
    26. Sullivan Street (Counting Crows)
    25. Con Te Partito (Andrea Bocelli)
    24. Rock Box (Run D.M.C)
    23. The Promise (Tracy Chapman)
    22. Under Pressure (Queen/David Bowie)
    21. Fake Plastic Trees (Radiohead)
    20. Said Sadly (Smashing Pumpkins)
    19. Evaporated (Ben Folds Five)
    18. Love Is The Answer (England Dan)
    17. Suspicious Minds (Elvis Presley)
    16. He Stopped Loving Her Today (George Jones)
    15. Smile (Pearl Jam)
    14. Send Me On My Way (Rusted Root)
    13. Beautiful World (Colin Hay)
    12. Lifeboy (Phish)
    11. Dirt (Phish)
    10. Waste (Phish) *** MY wedding song
    9. Piano Man (Billy Joel)
    8. If I Could (Phish)
    7. Release (Pearl Jam)
    6. The World Has Turned...(Weezer)
    5. Annie's Song (John Denver)
    4. Always On My Mind (Elvis Presley)
    3. Billy Breathes (Phish)
    2. Only In Dreams (Weezer)
    1. Sweet Pain (Blues Traveler)

If you haven't heard of some of these, I suggest you download them. And if you REALLY like this list, I'm sure I could burn you a copy!!

    19. Evaporated (Ben Folds Five)
That's a good song, but if you were going to have a Ben Folds song it should have been "Not the Same"(live). His concerts are a lot of fun, I've you've never been I'd highly recommend it.

But I really like that list, a lot of those would be in my top 30 (if I was also leaving out DMB).

Re: Top 30 Songs of All-Time

There's a surprising number of these I've never even heard. I can safely say we have different tastes [though I do like some of the performers on here] and not one of these would be on my top 30 all time.

Kudos for being able to pick 30, I don't think I could.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13, 15
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Chicago Bulls - 91, 92, 93, 96, 97, 98

Just out of curiousity, not to sidetrack the thread, but what are your top 5 DMB songs?

I'm also a pretty big fan and I think my top 5 would go:

    1) #41
    2) Dreaming Tree
    3) Lie In Our Graves
    4) Raven
    5) Tripping Billies

I know I've omitted a few of the ones that are mandatory (Seek Up, Ants) but that's just the 5 songs I always find myself coming back to.

Given your conditions (no Seek Up or Ants), here are my actual Top-5 DMB songs:

    1.) Grey Street
    2.) Crush
    3.) JTR
    4.) Tripping Billies
    5.) So Right

I'm already excited for August @ Riverbend.

    Without those two:

    Two Step
Pig/Don't Burn the Pig (whatever they're calling it nowadays)
    Halloween
    Foot to Think
"I know a lot about the law and various other lawyerings."

Re: Top 30 Songs of All-Time

Recently is one of my DMB favorites-- and I'm still waiting to hear #41 at one of the shows I attend.

But I literally have 75 different DMB CD's, so it's kind of hard to pick

If I made such a list, those songs would get consideration by me.

Re: Top 30 Songs of All-Time

I decided to try to list my 30 favorite songs, but quickly gave up on the idea of ranking them in order. It was hard enough to pare the list down to 30, and I'm sure I could revise it countless times. Anyway, in only semi-order:
    30. Good Vibrations-The Beach Boys
    29. Take Me Home Country Roads-JohnnDenver
    28. We Belong-Pat Benatar
    27. Lyin' Eyes-The Eagles
    26. And The Grass Won't Pay No Mind-Neil Diamond
    25. If You Away-Glen Campbell
    24. Ring Of Fire-Johnny Cash
    23. Oh Pretty Woman-Roy Orbison
    22. Yesterday-The Beatles
    21. Anyway-Martina McBride
    20. When I Get Where I'm Going-Brad Paisley with Dolly Parton
    19. Hazy Shade Of Winter-The Bangles
    18. If We Make It Through December-Merle Haggard
    17. You Were Always On My Mind-Elvis Presley
    16. 'Til I Can Make It On My Own-Tammy Wynette
    15. Operator-Jim Croce
    14. In My Life-The Beatles
    13. Crazy-Patsy Cline
    12. He's Alive-Don Francisco
    11. Crying-Roy Orbison
    10. Independence Day-Martina McBride
    9. My Home's In Alabama-Alabama
    8. Wind Beneath My Wings-Sheena Easton
    7. Amarillo By Morning-George Strait
    6. Can't Help Falling In Love-Elvis Presley
    5. In The Wee Small Hours-Frank Sinatra
    4. Centerfield-John Fogerty
    3. Maggie's Dream-Don Williams
    2. Wichita Lineman-Glen Campbell
    1. Suspicious Minds-Elvis Presley
"Hey...Dad. Wanna Have A Catch?" Kevin Costner in "Field Of Dreams."
