in some ways he reminds me of a relief version of Harang when he first came over.

    Several reasons, I guess:

    1. He might be redundant on the DFAing team's roster.

    2. He might be undervalued by the DFAing team.

because he needs innings, and Wedge (who i think is the worst manager in baseball behind Manuel) didn't give them to him...Davis has twice gone more than 6 days without pitching this year. take away his firs appearence (APR 11) and his last two appearences and you have a line of:

    ERA 0.00
    IP 7.1
    K 2
BB 9 (that's probably the DFA)
    H 3
    HR 0

just my opinion but don't we have some of our own bullpen projects ( Saarloos, Coutlangus, Salmon )? I just don't see how getting this guy fits in.
We need a reliable pitcher who is better than Weathers.
Then if Bray comes back and one of the projects above does well then our pen would be ok.

    Re: Jason Davis

Reds lack bat missers in the bullpen and a talent infusion is the only thing that is going to change that.

Exactly. Jason Davis is not a good pitcher. I realize the Reds pen stinks, but shuffling out one bad pitcher to shuffle in another bad pitcher doesn't do any good, as we've all seen over the past year and a half.

same could be said of when Brewers acquired Turnbow, Padres and Linebrink, White Sox with Jenks/McDougal/Aardsma, etc ...

Lots of valuable pieces are DFA'd or left unprotected over the years.

Hamilton was not thought of as being good enough to put on the 40 man roster.

I believe that Arroyo was once released. As was Freel. Phillips was just DFA'd last year.

Jason Davis, yes please. The guy is clearly not a starter, and when I saw what Cleveland was doing with him the name Eric Gagne came to mind. This guy throws harrrrrrrrrrrrd.

No doubt. With pitching, as long as it's a live arm, ya never know...

    Re: Jason Davis

I'd pick up Davis and cut Santos.. because realistically, we are stuck with Stanton and Weathers for the rest of the year.

Davis has much more upside than Santos, IMO. Plus, Davis can work multiple innings in relief.

Call up Cleveland and offer a Player to be named, Wayne..
Thank you Walt and Bob for going for it in 2010-2014!

There will be decent bidding for Mr. Davis's services; I'd go as high as Valaika for him.
