    My top 5 was

    1. Raging Bull
    2. Platoon
    3. Blade Runner
    4. Tootsie
    5. Ferris Buehler's Day Off

Tootsie was a very underrated movie.
She used to wake me up with coffee ever morning

Re: Go to www.amctv.com and pick your favorite movies of the 80's

I was struck by how most of the men listed as stars of the films are still starring in films or TV series today, while most of the women aren't even on the Hollywood radar.

    Karen Allen?
    Mia Sara?
    Elizabeth Perkins?

I agree that many of my favorite films from the 80s aren't on the list, while there were at least 5 that I've deliberately never seen.

I did the 70s one too - My top 8 from the seventies

    1. The Godfather
    2. Animal House
    3. Jaws
    4. Rocky
    5. Star Wars
    6. One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest
    7. Blazing Saddles
    8. The Sting

Kinda wierd when number 8 is one of the best movies ever. Man, the 70s had some great movies.

I'm surprised that Chariots of Fire is not in the top 25 for the 80's but is up there for Top American Movies of all time. Very surprising that a British movie would rank that high on that list.

You're not kidding, much better than the 80s.

From the 80s list, I'd have to pick 'Bull Durham' #1.

But 'Princess Bride' is better than all of 'em.

Yep, and no mention of Breaking Away, The Bad News Bears, Heaven Can Wait, Shampoo, The Conversation, Clockwork Orange, American Graffiti, The Deer Hunter, Network or even The Devil and Max Devlin.

Maybe AMC doesn't own the rights to show any of these. Only a guess. Since they began having commercials I rarely watch it anymore.. Go TCM!

How does "Breakfast Club" even make that list? I wouldn't put it in the top 100 movies of the 80's, let alone the top 5. BLECH!!

I put Raiders at #1, Wall Street #2. Wall Street is as watchable today as it was 20 years ago.

Notable omissions: Terminator, Say Anything, The Outsiders (though I may remember it being better than it actually was), RoTJ & Empire. And wasn't Indiana Jones & The Last Crusade out in 1989?
