If Stanton can't protect a 4 run lead in the 8th then what good is he?

The sad thing is in tomorrow's box score he'll get a "hold" for that...

Harang sure knows how to get run support. Wonder if he can teach that little trick to Bronson?

    Average runs scored while Harang is pitching: 5.25 (5, 6, 0, 2, 8, 9, 3, 9)

Only on one occasion did the reds fail to score while Harang was in the game, and they scored 6 runs the inning he was lifted for pinch hitter.

That does not include runs scored after Harang has left the game, or it would be higher.

You mean like he did with Cormier when it made sense to do so (ie. they felt Salmon could fill his shoes).

Keep in mind they have to fill the 5th starter spot also, so it's not as easy as just calling up Bobby L and having him replace Stanton.

I wouldn't be surprised either way. I'd have to think Stanton's days are numbered anyway with Bray coming back.

His two year deal likely means he's here for quite awhile.

Replacing Stanton is the easy part. It's no problem finding a pitcher who can come to start the 8th inning, get one out and leave with the bases loaded. The problem is paying the guy the rest of this year and next. If I'm Castellini I'm getting a little sick of this...

As with Burton and Milton, the likely scenario will be that Stanton will come down with an ailment necessitating a visit to the DL...

Hey Klu. I love this update, but could you add KGJr's ultimate total in parentheses after his Reds tally? I love watching his climb to 600 (I hope).

If you decide to, thanks in advance.

Yup. It probably all comes out in the wash.

The Reds have won 6 of his 8 starts. You can debate all you want with how's he's pitched, but clearly the Reds record is not because of him.

And in 4 of his 8 starts, he's gone 6 or fewer innings. More stress on the pen; fewer options the next night.

It all adds up. Only a fluke of offense has saved him from complete meltdown.

Three good starts and 5 clunkers. He's simply got to get it going. The season's over, but it'd be nice if he were at least a trade option at the deadline.
