NYMoose is right. When he has his hands up higher -it takes the hitch out and he has a smoothre swing plane. When he bottomed out he was back to his old ways--when he got hands up he started up again.

Re: Maybe Adam Dunn doesn't suck

Look, I like Adam Dunn. I really do. He frustrates me, but I like him. But enough of this "Oh he's finally in shape and coming to play, hoo ray for Adam." He's 27. He's been in the league since 2001. Shouldn't he be in shape, committed to great defense, and ready to go EVERY season? Adam knows that big money is on the horizon, as I'm sure his agent has made him aware of this (obviously). Adam is working hard, yes. But the bottom line is the green, not because some light went on and he's committed to being all he can be. Dunner hears "CHA-CHING" in his ears, as any player would, so he's taken a "new" approach. It's not really Dunn in particular I'm picking on here, just all professional athletes in general. It makes me sick really. Ok, now I'm off my milk carton.

With that being said, I hope he hits .350 with 65 homers and 140 rbi's. But as far as signing him for a contract that's $16 million plus per year.... I want to see this for a whole year, and next year.

OK. Houston is home. Everybody wants to go home. Lets accept that as fact. That seems to be the contention here.

Houston has Carlos Lee in LF and Lance Berkman at 1B. Unless Dunn amazingly learns to play 2B to take over for Biggio, Houston has no place for him to play and has needs in other areas (Starting Pitching) that any Free Agent money will be used on. I just don't see how Houston is an option for Dunn.

So... if Dunn wants to be at home and home isn't really an option, isn't it entirely possible that his second choice would be his professional home? The Reds organization is all he's ever known and if home and familiarity is the attraction (which seems to be a lot of the basis of your points) then it stands to reason that Cincy would have the inside track on Dunn if they want him.

I think the bigger issue is whether the Reds want Dunn at this point. They should be talking LTC now IMO. Barring a major change like an injury or illness, the price only goes up over time.

Here's something pretty remarkable -- after 0-2 counts this year, Dunn is OPSing .957!!!

Dunn's OPS history after 0-2 counts:
    2006: .372
    2005: .443
    2004: .318
    2003: .408
    2002: .671
I'd be curious what his OPS history after 0-2 counts was through mid-May in all those years. It looks to me like Dunn is doing what he always does: putting up great numbers early in the year. If he tanks as usual during August/ September -- considering his defense, price tag, and the high number of lefty power bats in the organization -- you have to consider the possibility that they don't see him as part of the future.

I consider Dunn more a part of the Reds future than Krivsky and most certainly Narron.

So so I, Dunn is never going to be Pujols and people need to accept that, he is what he is and in this market he's CHEAP at what he's currently making.

KronoRed, as of now, he's cheap for what he's making. But what about what his next long term deal will bring on? I can assure you, in today's market, it will be anything but cheap.

    Adam Dunn

this year he is playing better in the field and at the plate.
maybe his 2006 poor season was due to his off the field issues.

I think the Reds need his bat. I hope we keep him.
Trading Dunn would seem to be the start of a 'fire sale' which I don't want.
