    Glad Griffey broke his hand

Quotable: "I wouldn't recommend it as a way to learn patience, but when you break your hand, you don't want to be swinging at too many pitches early. It hurt the first three weeks of spring training. Look at how I took batting practice. The first couple of times, I didn't swing at very many balls." -- Ken Griffey Jr., on how his hand injury has helped him.

    -- ESPN.com news services

Too bad that's what it took, but as impressive as his hitting has been....his increase in walks/ decrease in k's has been spectacular. Wait a minute! Maybe they're related!

I mentioned it a week or so ago, that this is the best KG has looked in a Reds uniform at the dish. Now let's break Phillip's wrist.

    Ha!

VR, the only thing missing here is a statement that says that maybe the cocahing is not up to par if it takes a broken hand to improve plate discipline, no?

    anther little tidbit from Elias...

" Ken Griffey Jr. hit a home run in Cincinnati's 9-5 win over Houston, and he is batting .432 with five home runs over his past 10 games. It's the first time in his eight seasons with the Reds that Junior has hit at least that many homers with such a high batting average over a 10-game span. He last did that in May 1999 with Seattle."

Imagine how well he would be hitting if he had broken both hands.
I've been to dinner at Jimmy Buffet's house, and I've eaten it at a homeless shelter. And there's great joy and harrowing terror to be found in both places.

True. Of course he would know who his friends really were when he had to go to the bathroom.

I don't know if Junior actually uses a hitting coach aside from Senior.

Championships for MY teams in my lifetime:
    Cincinnati Reds - 75, 76, 90
    Chicago Blackhawks - 10, 13
    University of Kentucky - 78, 96, 98, 12
    Cincinnati Bengals - None

I thought the thread title was pretty morbid. Then I read the thread and I agree.
