And, in other news, the sun came up in the east.

    "Ricky don't lose that number...."
L.A. manager Grady Little had a bad feeling about Wednesday's game when he saw Harang and pitching coach Dick Pole walking in after Harang's warmup.

"I saw two big men," Little said. "Either could have shut us out tonight."

Holy jeez. How many millions of dollars has he just left sitting on the table from these antics? Wow.

Of course Ricky's problem is that he hasn't tried to hide the fact that he uses pot. I'm sure there are plenty of NFL players who use pot. But they mask it and perhaps lay off during the off season. If they know a test is coming, they won't partake for a month or so. I can understand why they would want to use it, though. Most of these guys play in a lot of pain and I believe the pot helps alleviate it.

A good friend of mine is good friends with the brother of a former long-time NFL'er. This former long-time NFL'er liked to partake in mary jane. His team(s) always let players know at least 90 days in advance when their test was coming. This guy had plenty of time to clean his system before the test. He never failed a test despite using pot throughout his long NFL career.

My friend is a pretty trustworthy type and I believe him. Hence, the reason very few NFL'ers test positive for drugs. Think only the few that get caught are the only ones using? I think we are smarter than that. On one hand it makes the testing seem like a joke, but on the otherhand it makes those who get caught seem very foolish or very addicted.

"panic" only comes from having real expectations

The rule may be stupid, but not nearly as stupid as Ricky.

That's my opinion too. I know we're not supposed to talk politics here, but I'm as pro-legalization as they come.

Nonethess, if you can't lay off it for a gazillion dollars, you're an addict. And that's sad, not funny.
How, then, are those people of the future—who are taking steroids every day—going to look back on baseball players who used steroids? They're going to look back on them as pioneers. They're going to look back at it and say "So what?" - Bill James, Cooperstown and the 'Roids

Exactly right. When the craving for a "high" is so strong that you're willing to toss away millions of dollars just for playing a sport, the drug has control. It should scare a user when they see people throwing their livelihood away just for the luxury of getting high.

Of course it hasn't quite come to that point yet. He can still play in the CFL (Cannibas Football League? ) He may not make the money he did in the NFL but he doesn't have to worry about being suspended for smoking pot. He's going to have some difficulty when he gets older and can't play anymore though.
