seen him play twice, very very fast and has a decent arm according to Vanderwood. Him and Phipps are a tad below Stubbs talent wise IMO.
He played at a very small college in Pennsylvania, Messiah College, I think.
He's got a bit of pop in his bat, speedy, rangy defender. He started out real hot this year, then came back to Earth. He's been icy cold over the past couple weeks. He kills lefties and struggles with righties.
After showing very solid plate discipline in rookie ball last season, he's found the strike zone a good deal tougher in the Midwest League.
His origin and draft position actually suggest... Chris Denorfia.
From the times I have seen him play he does cover a lot of ground in the outfield. His speed allows him to get to balls most outfielders would not get to. He has struggled at the plate most of the year but his defense is impressive.

Heisey got a lot more playing time last year in Billings because he got off to a very hot start- like many rookie draftees, he faded slowly as the year went on. This year it's been a similar pattern- he hit .286/.324/.471 in April before slumping to .227/.292/.364 in May.
Chris is about two months younger than Drew Stubbs and won't turn 23 until the offseason.
Denorfia, by comparison, had to play almost his entire first year in the Gulf Coast League and then turned 23 in the middle of his second season playing in High-A. But it wasn't until his third year, after repeating High-A to start, that he began putting up eye-catching numbers.
Heisey seems like he has the plus tool, though, with the speed- but might not be as well-rounded baseball-wise yet. It will be interesting to see how and if that changes. Denorfia had zero power for his first two pro seasons but always had the plate discipline. (Power and patience are the last two things to develop in most players.) Heisey's got more "raw materials" but a tad less polish, in other words.

Dorn wasn't perceived as much of a projectable athlete by scouts. This, along with some injuries his final year at Cal Fullerton, is why he wasn't picked until the 32nd round despite some good numbers.
Now that Dorn showed he was back at 100% by winning the PL batting title last year, the Reds realized they might have something and decided to let him skip Dayton. He started off slowly at Sarasota, but has come on a bit lately in a rough hitter's league and now stands at .245/.325/.434 with five homers and 28 RBI in 38 games. Hits in seven of his last eight games have brought him up from the Mendoza region.
For the Month of May, Dorn has hit: .322/.397/.644 with 4HR's 15RBI's 7 doubles in 16 games. If he ever can improve against lefties we have a very good prospect on our hands.
Danny Dorn won the Pioneer League Batting title not Valaika. Valaika's hit streak was incredible last year. He is a great player, but Danny Dorn was the best hitter in Billings last year based on AVG. His 1.030 OPS was pretty good too.

I agree. They are both great players. I would of hoped that they both started in Sarasota together though.
