Red Sox sign OF Tucker to minor-league contract

BOSTON (TICKER) -- The Boston Red Sox on Thursday signed veteran outfielder Michael Tucker to a minor-league contract.

Tucker will report to Class AAA Pawtucket of the International League.

The 35-year-old Tucker last played for the New York Mets in 2006, batting .196 with one homer and six RBI in 35 games.


Tucker appeared in at least 100 games for 10 straight years and compiled a career .256 average with 125 home runs, 528 RBI and 114 stolen bases in 1,417 games with Kansas City (1995-96; 2002-03), Atlanta (1997-98), Cincinnati (1999-2001), the Chicago Cubs (2001), San Francisco (2004-05), Philadelphia (2005) and the Mets.
