Louisville's DH is about to get under way.
Steven Kelly is on the mound.
Lineup:
Rise RF
Keppinger 1B
Encarnacion 3B
Herr DH
Bellhorn 2B
Edwards LF
Dickerson CF
Jorgesen C
Machado SS
Encarnacion hit a smash up the middle for a single in the 4th inning and is now 1-2. There's not much else going on as Edwin's single was the first hit of the game for either team.
Kelly: 3.0 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 1 SO
Now heading to the bottom of the 4th with no score.

Interesting sidenote about this Louisville/Toledo game ...
The Mud Hens have one David Espinosa playing right field ... the same David Espinosa that the Reds drafted in the first round with the 23rd overall pick in the 2000 draft. Espinosa's batting line thus far in 2007 after ~110 plate appearances is an impressive .094/.133/.198, and that's an eye-popping .331 OPS (he did put up an .813 OPS in AAA last season in almost 350 plate appearances).

Toledo picked up a run in the bottom of the 4th. Chris Shelton hit a double and eventually came around to score. The Mud Hens now lead 1-0 as the game heads to the top of the 5th.
Kelly: 4.0 IP, 1 H, 1 R (earned), 1 BB, 2 SO

I was thinking about Chris Shelton the other day. Any idea of if he'd be a worthwhile pickup as a righty bat off the bench? He's looked real good at times... and another 1B/OF (though not the rangiest guy in the world by any means). With talk around about Craig Wilson being available, I wonder if Shelton's worth a look? Just curious.
Sean Watson: 1 IP, 0 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 2 K
Earl Snyder PHs for Machado to start the 6th, remember its only a 7 inning game.
Anderson must still be feeling the affects from the ground off the cup he took last innings.
Snyder pops out. Edwin is the only baserunner for the Bats so far in game 1.
Shelton may be worth a curious look. He has a career MLB .825 OPS in 899 plate appearances. His road OPS away from Comerica is .850. Interestingly, he's hit righty pitchers better than southpaws with an .840 OPS against righties and .783 OPS against lefties.
It's still 1-0 Toledo and now in the top of the 6th inning. Kelly's done well, and he's been helped by some nice defense, including helping himself.
Kelly: 5 IP, 1 H, 1 R (earned), 1 BB, 2 SO
The Bats' bats are cold as they only have one single and one walk for the game thus far. Dickerson was robbed of potential extra bases earlier in the game on a nice diving grab.

Earl Snyder (pinch hitter for Machado), Wise, and Keppinger go in order. Bats still trail 1-0 heading to the bottom of the 6th, and they're down to three outs since this game's only going seven innings.
