Is anyone else scared that, if true, Krivsky is going back to Washington for relief help?

Definitely not a Dunn or Votto type of player. My hope is that Bowden is dreaming if he thinks he could land either of those two for anything less than an absolute king's ransom. I'm not even sure if the Nationals entire organization has a king's ransom worth of players (I don't know much about their current farm system).

I can't imagine Griffey waiving his no-trade clause for Washington either so he's probably a moot point.

I wish we knew the potential strength for this grievance, because using that as leverage is probably the only realistic shot to acquire a Cordero. The idea would be to use the grievance to corner Bowden in a hole, but give him the option of the Reds dropping the grievance in exchange for shipping a mid-level prospect or two to Washington that the Reds really wouldn't miss in exchange for a Cordero.

That scenario is still likely wishful thinking anyway, but given how long the Reds waited to file this grievance (over 10 months since the trade), it really makes me wonder if they could actually have a pretty solid case that could give Krivsky a bit of leverage.

It would be best for his career, and the Reds.

    Dunn's bat would trump Votto's at 1B.

I'm sure we could find someone with a bat on par with Votto's, who plays better defense than Dunn.

That being said, LF defense should be the least of the Reds current concerns.

    Re: Trade rumors.

Any chance for a three way trade where Wily Mo goes the Nats, Cordero to the Reds, and XX to the Sox? Not sure what the Sox are looking for... Also, what's the word on Cordero's ineffectiveness this year?

My biggest concern, as I've said elsewhere, is that we don't need more options, we need better ones. Cordero is making $4.15M this year in his first shot at arbitration and isn't getting cheaper. For that money he better be the closer. We don't have the organizational depth to start moving legitimate prospects for filler in the bullpen.
Games are won on run differential -- scoring more than your opponent. Runs are runs, scored or prevented they all count the same. Worry about scoring more and allowing fewer, not which positions contribute to which side of the equation or how "consistent" you are at your current level of performance.

Let me jump on the bandwagon of those noting there is no way in the world that Griffey would accept a trade to the Nats.
Am I correct in recalling that his relationship with Bowden came to an end after the failed attempt to trade him to the Padres for Phil Nevin?
I'm also confident there won't be any Reds-Nationals transactions in the near future.

I thought I heard that Cordero was hurt. If that's true, it'd make sense why Wayne would want him.

WK should give up on ANY idea of trading KGJr to the Nationals. He'd NEVER agree to that (and I don't blame him).

Oops, I responded after I read the article without reading the entire thread. I'm about the millionth person to comment on this. Sorry.

    More likely EE.

Some of Krivky's firsts moves were dealing Pena and signing Hat so Dunn could go back to the OF, I think the DUnn to 1st boat has long since sailed.

CC's grandmother ( I think) passed away, and he said that was weighing heavily on his mind. But I think that the BoSox would be interested in Cordero straight up.

Just what I thought. And if Krivs is trying to make a trade for Cordero (with the Nats and Jimbo) then I would be willing to bet that Dunn, Phillips, and Homer is what Bowden asked for and Krivs told him that he will have to think about it... (all the while thinking "our bullpen is going to be awesome if I make this trade!!")

I remember one time going out to the mound to talk with Bob Gibson. He told me to get back behind the batter, that the only thing I knew about pitching was that it was hard to hit.

    Yep.

Losing ones hand in a freak accident is one thing, making a return trip to the alligator farm where it happend is less than bright imo.

Griffey to Boston might make sense. It would give him a shot at a ring he deserves. My guess is that if Boston was involved it could go:

    Pena to Nats
    Griffey to Sox
    Cordero to Reds
    Prospects from Boston to Washington
Young BP arm from Reds to Sox

JD Drew to center, Griffey to Right, Crisp to bench or trade
The Sox traded Bullfrog the only player they've got for Shottenhoffen. Four-eyes Shottenhoffen a utility infielder. They've got a whole team of utility infielders.

Depends on whether the greivence with Washinton is the only reason he's going back to said alligator farm. If so, then I have no problem trying to use the apperance of leverage to try to pry away some tallent at a good price.

However, if Wayne's going back just because Jimbo is picking up the phone and saying, "what if" then I tend to agree with you that putting your hand back on the hot stove burner isn't the best idea.

I simply don't have access to a "cares about RBI" place in my psyche. There is a "mildly curious about OBI%" alcove just before the acid filled lake guarded by robot snipers with lasers which leads to the "cares about RBI" antechamber though. - Nate
