So, Votto to LF AGAIN last night? That's happened enough now that I am starting to draw a very uncomfortable conclusion. Namely, that WK sees Hatte/Conine as immovable, but Dunn as movable, and that Votto is being looked at as a LF to replace Dunn after Dunn is dealt in a month or so.

And that's not to say I would necessarily be against moving Dunn. Just that I don't want Votto moved out of position in any event to accomodate Mr. Hatte and Conine. Simply ridiculous.

I have been told that the Reds want guys to know how to play as many positions as possible and that certain guys are being mandated to play outside of their original position about once a week.

As Doug pointed out above, I think you are reading too much into it. It's always good for a young guy to be versatile enough to fill at on or two positions outside of primary spot. Given WK's defensive-minded approach, I seriously doubt they are looking to convert Joey into a full-time OF.

    I. don't. trust. WK. or. the. Reds.

My paranoia is the fruit of their incompetence.

I trust WK to the degree that he has been rather predictable in his efforts to upgrade the defense.

Today is an example of why our versatile guys should learn the OF.

Sure is.... but Joey Votto should not be one of those guys.

Hence the word "versatile." Joey was poor at catcher and 3B, so they stuck him at the default position for poor fielder. Therefore, that makes him not versatile.

Sorry, I still have tears in my eyes from laughing so hard at the mental image of Nacho Libre playing the OF.

Even funnier is that now that I think about it, didn't Miley do it a couple of times?

Re: Votto Hitting Over .400 For May

Votto ended May with a line of .402/.496/.618 - 1.114 OPS. He had an even 19 bb/19 k ratio in 102 atbats and belted six of his eight homeruns in May. I bet he hated to see May end, but he's off to a good start in June as he is 1-for-1 with a RBI single so far tonight.

I think Votto is going to be a favorite when he reaches the majors.

He is the type that just continues to hit, and even when he has a slump, he finds his way out of it and ends up with solid numbers when all is said is done...

I would love to be able to keep Hatte and keep him as a bench player, b/c I don't see anything that keeps me from thiking that Votto can't be an everyday first baseman at the beginning of next season on. No reason for a platoon at first...
