    Anyone use Cincy Bell Wireless?

Been shopping for a new cell phone, was wondering what everyones impressions of Cincinnati Bell Wireless is. I just got back from their store, the phone selection is horrible. I looked around, the plans at Verizon aren't worth the $$$$ for what you get IMO, and I don't want to sign a contract.

I've been with CBW for about three years now, and have a favorable opinion of them. I figure you're bound to have some kind of trouble every now and again no matter what company you're with, but I've only really had one issue since I've been with them, and they took care of it for me. They keep me updated when rates go down, and let me know that I could get a better deal for what I want, even though it means them not getting as much from me, so that's cool. As far as actual phones, that isn't too important to me, so I can't really give you an opinion on whether they have the hottest phones or not. Customer service and the fact that they don't have contracts are the most important issues with me, and those have been good points for me.

No contract is a big thing for me too, it seems like all the major providers are back to 2 year minimum contracts. No thanks.

The phone selection with Verizon isn't that great either from what I've seen. They have a lot models, but it looks like most are junk.

I have a tracfone. I could care less about all the bells & whistles. For what I need and want it for, I have been very happy. My minutes carry over from month to month, no contracts and have yet to have a dropped call or signal problem.

I use Cinti Bell for home phone, DSL internet and cell service. With everything "bundled", I save quite a bit. I do call every 3 months or so and complain about how high my bill is, threatening to switch and they usually knock $10-15 off my bill. I have had very few problems with any of my services with them, I find them very helpful actually.

I've had Cincy Bell and also tried out Virgin pre-paid. Both plans were fine, but the phone quality stunk. I would have weak signals and dropped calls all the time.

I hate contracts but finally moved to Verizon. I have never lost a call or even had a bad signal. More money, but it's worth it to me to know a call will go through.

CBW has always worked well for me. So well, actually, that I dropped the landline a few months ago and went cell only. Had to switch to cable internet but overall I sill save $30 or so/mo. $50/mo after taxes gets 500 peak min/mo, unlimited nights, wknds, and CBW to CBW. Also free LD, no roaming charges, etc. I'm not a big texter or cell internet user but I think you can add those for $5-10/mo.

I've had CBW for several years. Actually, I have CBW and Verizon at the moment. The CBW is for play and the Verizon is for work. I carry both with me during the day. Both phones drop calls. Both have service area voids (I carry both because the voids are rarely shared). I've noticed that the Verizon phone seems to have more areas where it doesn't get service. I'm not big on the phone from either provider, but it's not that big of a deal for me. I've never had a problem to speak of with CBW, and I've been with them for years. My suggestion: try CBW without the contract. If you don't like it, go to Verizon (or some other den of thieves).

I hate contracts too but CBW forced me to change. I had CBW for years when in Oct 2006 I struggled to get coverage at my home in NE greater Cincinnati (Deerfield Township). Whereas before I could generally get a couple bars as of Oct, I could only (occasionally) pull in a bar if I put the phone in a window sil or walked to the edge of my driveway. In a word, I lost coverage. I talked to them and explained the situation and to make a long story short they still hadn't rectified my problem in three months so in January I switched to Cingular.

The problem with Cin Bell is this: They lease towers from Cingular, Verizon, Nextel and when they lose their lease your coverage changes. That's what happened to me. My phone goes up to four bars and I consistently get 3 or 4 bars in any part of my house including the basement. That's more important than supporting the local co (which I like to do) or signing a contract. With rollover minutes and free weekend/evening calls I have cut my landline long distance bill to nothing.

Bottomline: If CBW has coverage where you need it, great, go with 'em. But if that changes, turn in your phone and move on.

I got a CBW phone today, went with a black Razr. Everyone on earth has one (including me a few months ago), so we'll see how it goes. If I don't like the service at least I'm not locked into a contract.

I've been with verizon for about 5 years now. Say what you want about them, but their coverage is excellent.
All models are wrong. Some of them are useful.
