I really wish they were at home so I could watch it on milb.tv. I guess I'll have to settle for listening to it.

I would love to see him dominate tomorrow and at least show he is ready for Double-A.

That would certainly ease my mind about his slow start in Sarasota.

Johnny had to be disappointed to find out he was repeating the season in the FSL again. I had him pegged to begin the year in Chattanooga after he dominated the FSL toward the end of last season. IIRC he ended the season with roughly 20+ consecutive shutout innings. I have a feeling he will step up his game tomorrow night in an effort to show the Reds they made a mistake by not promoting him.

I will say this, the minors board has been a wonderful respite from the difficulties and depression that accompanies discussing the major league club. So much to be happy and optimistic about on the farm. It's such a nice departure from previous years...

If you're thinking Homer, it's probably won't be him (although you never know after tonight's dominant performance). Livingston just got called up to replace Saarloos.

Livingston was due to start in AAA tomorrow, so Cueto is taking his spot.

I sense that we are about to see a number of promotions in the minor leagues. After Bailey's dominant outing tonight, I would guess that he and Votto will be in Cincy in the next several weeks. The draft is coming very soon and this always results in some movement.

Perhaps the Reds' answer to the major league team's woes is to become more aggressive with the younger folk.

Is this a permanent move or are they just plugging a hole in AAA?

I would say plugging a hole. Hardly ever does someone jump 2 levels and stay in the minors.

It's Cueto because the Bats need someone and Johnny would be pitching that day (so it doesn't mess up the rotations). It also has the double purpose of giving some of the other minor-league people a look at the guy.

Sarasota is a convenient place to draw arms from for the AA and AAA levels because the procedural move of taking a guy from extended spring training (that's held in Sarasota already) and activating him so the S-Reds can play their game too is especially easy.

I'm with ya. If it weren't for the awesome seasons our minor league teams are having, I'd be beyond depressed about baseball this summer. I haven't intently followed minor league baseball for a long time, but it sure seems like the Reds' farm system is recovering. Building some depth is the next step, IMHO.
