Freel to the DL, Wise Up

I'm pretty sure Wise wasn't on the 40 man roster, but the Reds had an extra spot so he'll take that one.

    Dewayne Wise at AAA
    44 games 172 ab's
    .256-7-19
    43 k's, 7 walks, .291 OBP

    Well, he's fast.

I personally would have given Dickerson a cup of coffee. He's not hitting well in AAA yet, but he was hitting in AA, is fast, and plays great defense.

It shouldn't mean much anyone though. Hamilton will be back in 6 games.

Freel to the DL; Wise Up

    From Trent's blog:
HOUSTON -- the latest from the reds:

Freel is scheduled to be released from the hospital this afternoon but won’t see the head and neck specialist until tomorrow.

    And it's Wise:

The Reds selected the contract of OF Dewayne Wise from Class AAA Louisville and placed on the 15-day disabled list OF Ryan Freel. Wise will wear uniform number 15.

Yeah he is amazing to watch in the outfield. I would have liked to see him up here, he did have 4 hits yesterday.

If not him I would have liked to see Votto up here for a few days, let him get some starts at first and in LF.

welsch was talking bout this yesterday and i think he was right if they brought up dickerson that would give them 3 lefthanded outfielders and only one righty that may have been the case where normally we have 3 lefties and 2 righties in the outfield

At this point I could care less if we had 5 lefties in the outfield. Wise is pretty much a waste and so is Hopper for that matter.

Wise is a lefthander, as is Hamilton.

Razor: I don't understand your sentiments about Hopper. I thought he was doing pretty well. He is beginning to win me over as a fourth outfielder. No?

He did have a good game last night, but I don't really see it continuing. He doesn't seem to be very selective at the plate, and since he hardly ever walks he's only going to get on base when he gets a hit, and so even if he hits .300 he's still making a lot of outs.

I suppose he's fine to have on the team while Freel and Hamilton are out, but when they're both back I hope that he goes back down to AAA.

Yep, not a single walk in 49 ABs this year so that .286 BA is also a .286 OBP. And before last night's game, it was .244/.244.

Hopper was putting up some good numbers as a pinch hitter before the injuries and illnesses forced him into a starting spot. I would much rather send Moeller back down as his bat is absolutely useless.

This is old hat by now but can anyone post the vieo of the Freel play? I can't find it anywhere. I've tried watching it on the Red's sight but all I get is a green screen with audio. Can anyone help?
