For a good time in San Diego....

    ....call RBA.

Actually, it was RBA's post about Coronado/Petco that reminded me to put this on the board.

If any of you are in San Diego this summer and the Pads are playing consider this as an entertainment option:

The Marriott Gaslamp Quarter is right by Petco Park. On the 22nd floor they have an outdoor bar called 'Altitude'. It looks right down into Petco and you can actually see the ball from there (surprised me). It also has numerous TV's around the place that allow you to watch the game that way.

We were there last Friday night and the place was packed (lot's of pretty people but they let me in anyway : ). The seats along the wall are busy but folks rotate pretty well and we were able to get seats looking into the park in about 15-20 minutes. Some nights they have fireworks after the game which must be awesome from that vantage point.

Maybe there are other places around the league that you can do this but it was unique for me.

Add to that, the Gaslamp Quarter really jumps with a lot of restaurants, clubs, music and (most of all) people! We were there for the Jazz Festival and it was great!

One of these days, I'm going to San Diego. On purpose.

If you can't have a good time in San Diego, you have major issues.
Rob Neyer: "Any writer who says he'd be a better manager than the worst manager is either 1) lying (i.e. 'using poetic license') or 2) patently delusional. Which isn't to say managers don't do stupid things that you or I wouldn't."

I lived there for a while and my wife lived ther the first 20 years of her life. I agree with this sentiment.

Although, I do agree that PetCo is in a great location with nice surroundings. I've been there a few times. We take the light rail in that drops off right next to the stadium. They've got an excellent NY Pizza joint right on the main strip in the gas lamp district that we generally go to. The stadium is beautiful, but if you dont have lower level seats in the lower bowl, you feel like a distant observer. That was my only problem with the park.
