    Rockies DFA Steve Finley

    Don't tell Marty.

Rockies designated outfielder Steve Finley for assignment.

If the 42-year-old Finley wants to keep playing, odds are that someone will pick him up. However, he's not a useful player these days. He hit .181/.245/.245 with two RBI in 94 at-bats for the Rockies, and his defense in center field has declined substantially. Most teams have better reserve outfield options in Triple-A.

I could see the Mets giving him a call. They've been hammered by injuries in the outfield.

    Castro's numbers are actually worse.

He's probably got forks sticking out of him all over, but you have to admire his dedication and work ethic. I remember reading about all the physical training regimen he goes through to get his body ready to compete, and it was pretty wild. I wish I could transplant that attitude into certain Reds...

2 RBIs in 94 ABs? Slugger Juan has twice that many in fewer ABs.

Juan has this robust line: .167/.188/.217. Finley is struggling terribly but he's still out-hitting Slugger Juan.

What are you guys arguing about? It doesn't matter whose numbers are better. We don't have to choose one or the other, we can have both of them. And even get to see a lineup where both of them start.

If only Finley were a relief pitcher.

You know what they say about stats. No sense arguing because we can pick and choose the numbers we want to use.

I was particularly taken by the RBI stat because Finley is paid to drive in runs much more so than Castro whose main job is to backup at SS. If he's only driven in 2 in almost 100 ABs I'm sure they're ready to pack his bags and drive him to the airport...

What's the opposite of a silver lining, because you just found it.

I don't think he was expected to drive in runs. Finley was mainly used in the leadoff spot with the bulk of the rest of his ABs hitting 8th. He was expected to spell Taveras at the top of the order. He failed miserably.

Wouldn't that be sweet? Put Moeller at catcher and that's one awesome lineup.
