When the reds announced that Homer Bailey would start Friday night against Cleveland they used their last trump card for this miserable season way too early. With or without Homer the Reds probably would have drawn the largest crowd for a 3 game series all year against the Indians this weekend. Now with Homer in the fold, which I thought he either should have been broughten up one month ago or in July, they will definatly draw the largest series crowd all year. From a marketing, promotional, financial standpoint I dont see why you bring add Homer to a series that is already going to draw well. If they get swept by the Indians their trump card will be gone and all they will be left with is a miserable rest of the season. If Homer pitches well and the reds win the series this may instill a great deal of hope both for the curent version of the reds as well as the future version. This is the marque weekend series of the year and the Reds MUST come out and play well.
