The Reds website is still showing Cozart as unsigned.

I think they are waiting for the Commish to sign off. Which would mean he signed for more than his slot money. I'm only guessing that's the reason.

Cozart is in Dayton. He has not been cleared to play though.
Cool. Any idea why is he isn't cleared?

His contract hasn't been finalized. Can't play if you don't have a signed contract that has been approved.

BILLINGS — The good news is the Cincinnati Reds have signed their supplemental first-round pick, Todd Frazier of Rutgers, and he’s scheduled to join the Billings Mustangs today in Helena.

I thought they would start him in Dayton with Cozart.

Apparently the Reds don't want to promote Justin Turner, so they in turn stunt the development of Frazier.... I question the Reds ideology sometimes.

Why would you start Frazier in Billings, who has unquestionably the better bat of him and Cozart if you are going to start Cozart in Dayton? Well its because they don't want to promote Justin Turner, who has hit just fine in Dayton. Go up to Sarasota and there is Michael DeJesus who is having a decent season, although most of his ability at the plate is coming from his on base skills and not really his hitting skills. I don't know, I just dont understand it.

Does Valaika's very tough start in Sarasota have anything to do with it?

Could he possibly be sent to Billings because he'll be learning a new position?

I would doubt it. I would think playing another position is going to be easier in Dayton, who has a great field than in Billings where the conditions are just not as good.

    Great news!

After the draft, I said he and Waring would destroy pitching in the Pioneer League.

I wouldn't be surprised if both OPS around 1.000.

I also feel that Frazier (now signed) is our 3rd or 4th best non-pitching prospect.

    1. Jay Bruce
    2. Joey Votto
    3. Juan Francisco/ Todd Frazier
    5. Chris Valaika
    6. Devin Mesoraco

I am sure he will not be long at Billings before he is promoted

I would bump Keppinger (hitting .368) up to the big club (dump Castro). Bump Anderson to Louisville. Bump Turner to Chattanooga (more of a prospect than DeJesus) and put Frazier at SS in Dayton. Move Cozart to 2nd.
