SI reporting 27th pick Rick Porcello and Tigers in agreement on 7.3 million dollar signing bonus, besting Josh Beckett's record bonus. Sheesh. So much for slot assingment.

That was left out of the article, or I skipped it. But that seems more reasonable.
Last day. Anyone heard anything yet. Is 5PM the deadline?
BA reporting Cincy signed Hildenbrandt.
Props for the above-slot signing. I feel so New York.Canadian prep righty Evan Hildenbrandt (Reds, sixth round), signed for $200,000. MLB recommends that players after the fifth round be capped at the slot for the last pick in the fifth round, which was $123,300 this year.
Midnight is the deadline.
And nice job on Hildenbrandt. From the beginning he told them he wanted higher than 6th round money and that they knew it from the beginning. As things moved along he was told that he would be signed by the Reds scouting director, so it looks like its been in the works for a while but just took some sorting out by MLB to get it done.
That's great news. Now, if we could get Alexander inked, that would be awesome. Probably not likely though.
Any word on Stouffer?
Well the word out of MLB offices is that MLB was not approving hardly any deals over slot at all until the last two days....
This is great news. I hate when teams draft players, and don't sign them. Especially when they are the top picks. If an organization only signs 20 of its draft picks it has less of a chance to suceed, than a team who signs all of them. I understand the late round picks are usually not signed though. I don't really understand why you would draft a player in the last round if you aren't going to sign them.
Looks like Stouffer is staying at A&M.

I recently attended an Astros-Cubs game, and they were honoring the Texas A&M sports teams that had won their conference title. Blake Stouffer was there to represent the Aggie baseball squad. After the ceremony they had Stouffer throw out the first pitch. (One of at least three first pitches. It seems nowadays in Houston everybody eventually gets to throw out a first pitch. The most impressive of the first-pitchers was a young lady from Houston who will be representing Texas at the Miss USA contest. That night the Houston fans got two waves going at the same time. Impressive. Or else the upper deck was just really, really slow.) Back to the story, he threw it high and wide of the catcher and it went to the backstop.
