    6/9/07 Minor League Updates

Dragons are in the 2nd inning of their noon game. They've got two 9 inning games today, with the 2nd starting at 7:00 PM.

Guerraro on the mound for Dayton. 29 pitches in the 1st inning, comes back with 9 pitches in the 2nd. No score in the bottom of the 2nd. Guerraro has given up 1 hit, 1 bb, with 3 k's so far.

    Valaika 1 for 1 with a double.

Stubbs 0 for 1 with a K. His freefall continues.

Guerraro strikes out 2 in the 3rd. 5 total so far. Still no score.

On a side note, Chris Cody is on the mound for West Michigan. He leads the Midwest League with 80 K's and owns a sub 2.00 ERA.

Also of interest, the 1st base coach for West Michigan is former left-handed catcher for the Pirates, Benny Distefano.

Guerraro done, Marcus Mateo in for the 6th. Mateo with 23 K's, only 2 walks on the year, but batters are hitting over .300 against him.

I like Mateo best of the foreign pitchers debuting at Dayton. I think he could step forward.
All my posts are my opinion - just like yours are. If I forget to state it and you're too dense to see the obvious, look here!

Well, he just got named to the MWL All-Star team, so maybe the Reds will take a little notice.
