    Fisher 10th on Hot Sheet

    10. Carlos Fisher, rhp, Double-A Chattanooga (Reds)

After a spot on the depth chart of this year's Prospect Handbook, Carlos Fisher is ensuring he gets a spot on the Top 30 next year. Since being promoted to Double-A Chattanooga he's been even better than he was in high Class A, last week he struck out 13 in 12 innings, improving to 2-1, 1.26 in seven Double-A starts.

Is that Top 30 for the Reds or Top 30 for all of baseball?

    From BA's blog for Monday....

"Carlos Fisher is proving to be one of the biggest surprises of the season. Fisher allowed one run in six innings last night, raising his ERA to 1.26 in seven Double-A starts since being promoted from high Class A Sarasota. Fisher is now 6-2, 1.71 with 89 strikeouts and 20 walks in 84 innings. Opponents are hitting .220 against him."

    and....

    "Low Class A

Rafael Gonzalez rebirth as a prospect continued on Sunday as Gonzalez allowed one run in eight innings to lower his ERA to 2.24."

The prospect handbooks lists the top 30 for each team. I think the reference is to top 30 for the Reds. It wouldn't surprise me to see him high on some all of baseball lists though. I think last year no one believed and the age for level thing worked against him. He's now 24 and in AA to the age thing should be less of a factor. He had a dominant 2006 in A- and this year he dominated A+ and so far AA.

IMO Fisher has a real chance to be a successful middle of the rotation MLB starter. He's the kind of guy the BA frequently overlooks.
