Minor League Phase 2006 Rule V Picks

While responding to something elsewhere, I mentioned the minor league phase of the Rule V draft last winter. We took two players; one in the AAA phase, the other in the AA phase. In the AAA phase, we took Francisco Mateo from the Blue Jays; and in the AA phase, we took Nicholas Moran from the Devil Rays.

I checked the minor league site and only Mateo is shown and he's showing assigned to Billings. Moran isn't shown at all. I'm not sure how Mateo can be assigned to the Rookie club if he was taken in the AAA phase. And I'm guessing that Moran maybe retired (he is 27 years old).

Anyone know what's up with these guys?

Unlike the Major League Rule 5, there is no restriction on where a guy plays if you snag him in minor league Rule 5. (don't know where Moran is)

Moran was released in spring training, I think.
