Wow. What a stud. How young is he?
Not an easy team to do it to either.

I'm a big fan of no hitters. Sometimes you see an established pitcher do it, sometimes it's an extremely talented young pitcher like Verlander, and sometimes it's some flash in the pan like Bud Smith or that guy who threw one against Randy Johnson (Jiminez, I believe).

And Clemens and Maddux have a combined zero no-no's. Freaky.

I'm not sure now many of you guys got to watch him pitch tonight but he was downright filthy. It was incredible to watch him blowing guys away with 99mph fastballs in the ninth with a no hitter on the line. It's definately a great time to be a Tigers fan, can you imagine having a SP core of Bonderman, Verlander and Andrew Miller with Zumaya at the backend of the bullpen for the next five years... nasty.

Kent Mercker threw a no hitter, so what. In all seriousness that kid has some amazing stuff and will be a front of the rotation guy for many years to come barring any injuries. If the Tigers can find a way to keep Joel Zumaya from playing Guitar Hero that is going to be one hellava pitching staff comparable to the Braves of the 1990's.

Amazing, he went from a 102mph heater to a 82mph unhittable breaking ball. No wonder..

Especially if Miller and Porcello develop quickly. Talk about young talent..
