It still pains me to see Driessen at 1b instead of Perez. What a bad trade that was! Didn't Fryman quit the team during the season and go back to his farm in Kentucky?

That was a bad Phillies team. They only won 50 something games but Steve Carlton won 27 of those. One of the most remarkable anomalies I ever seen.

Guy Hoffman? That's a blast from the past.

Seems like there were quite a few double headers in the 2 days I've seen these threads - I know they're not as common now, but it seems like there may have been more in the past than I realized, or else it's a weird coincidence to see several listed these 2 days.

I think you're right. The Reds then traded him during the offseason, along with minor-league pitcher Bill Caudill, to the Cubbies for pitcher Bill Bonham. The Cubs then traded him back to Les Expos during the 1978 season. Woodie evidently liked Montreal--he never quit them to go back home to the farm, staying with the them until 1983. (Strange, considering how far Kentucky is from Quebec, and how close it is to Cincinnati.)

I have a 75 pocket schedule and several DH's are listed, used to be the norm..now it's just if it rains.
