Major league leader in HRs? Rodriguez with 28.

NL leader in HRs? Fielder with 26.

Next up, in either league? Jr. with 21 now.

To call this a resurgence is an understatement. To call it unforeseen is a vast understatement.

To call it a sight for sore eyes in the midst of a hellish year? Beyond understatement.

Good for Jr. In every respect.

    Doesn't bother me a bit.

Although, if he's smart, this will be his last game there. Pretty nice way to go out.

I wonder if Griffey will go into the HOF as a Red or Mariner? I think probably a Mariner. What do you all think?

    Mariner. Without a doubt.

He was going to the hall of fame before he ever came to Cincinnati.

The HOF decides the player's cap and they'll certainly put him in as a Mariner.

I don't know if Pete Rose ever said it publically, or was asked about it, but it's no different than him wanting to come home when the opportunity arose.

Whether or not the Reds trade him to Seattle, or anywhere....he could go there for the league minimum, or for cheap in 2009, as others have said.

2009? I am not sure that patience is a common attribute in professional athletes.

I would bet the next paycheck that phone calls are firing back and forth almost as we speak (because of cell phones).

I have this cheesy little dream where this year, when Bonds inevitably breaks the all-time HR record, Ken Griffey Jr. quietly manages to hit his 62nd home run of the season sometime in September, making him the unofficial Home Run king in baseball.

It'd be a nice little story, at any rate.

The Griffey thing is like your girlfriend saying she would like to go back to her old boyfriend at some time because he was her first love.

That could be, but ultimately, it's up to the Reds.

The only way Jr doesn't go in as a Mariner is he wins a couple MVP's as a Red and wins a couple NL Pennants and a WS ring. Maybe he would need a couple of gold gloves too.

Well, his career isn't over yet. if by some miracle of God Griffey continues this year as he's started it and continues to do it for three or four more years in Cincinnati, that could change things.

But otherwise, of course I agree with you.
