From the Lookouts website:
Southern League of Professional Baseball Clubs has announced the North Division roster for the 2007 All-Star Game. The roster contains three Lookouts: C Ryan Hanigan, 2B Drew Anderson, and RHP Carlos Guevara. Also selected, although unable to participate due to a recent promotion, was RHP Calvin Medlock.
Hanigan, a 2007 Major League spring training camp non-roster invitee, is currently batting .301 with three homers and 26 RBI for the Lookouts this season. His .417 on-base percentage ranks him fifth in the Southern League in that category. The 2002 non-drafted free agent has reached base in 39 of his last 41 games, including his last 16 games. Hanigan has also been notable on the defensive end, throwing out 39% of would be base stealers, placing him third in the Southern League.
Anderson, who leads the Lookouts in multiple hit games (22), is currently tied for third in the Southern League in triples with six. The speedy switch-hitter is currently batting .256 with 16 doubles and six homers. He also leads the Lookouts in runs (49) this season.
Guevara has served as the closer out of the Lookouts bullpen since May. Since assuming the role, the 2003 seventh-round selection has notched nine saves in 10 opportunities. He has posted a 2.72 ERA to go with 48 strikeouts in 36.1 innings of work.
Calvin Medlock proved to be a solid option out of the bullpen for the Lookouts, as he held the honor of being the only Lookouts’ arm to post a sub-4.00 ERA during the months of April, May, and June. In 47.2 innings of relief, Medlock struck out 59 batters to only five walks, resulting in a 2.64 ERA before being promoted to Louisville.
The 2007 Southern League All-Star Game will be on July 9th at Trustmark Park, home of the Mississippi Braves.
